Compassionate leave policy

This is designed to help you in the event of a personal crisis, and in most cases will last up to a maximum of three days. Depending on the circumstances you may be required to take some of this leave from your annual leave entitlement. Extended periods of compassionate leave may be granted, possibly on an unpaid or reduced salary basis. This is determined at the discretion of senior management depending on the individual circumstances.

You may take a short period of compassionate leave in the event of the serious illness or death of a member of your immediate family. In most circumstances, the definition of immediate family encompasses spouse/partner, children, siblings and parents. In the event of a grandparent dying, you may take a day’s paid compassionate leave for the funeral.
